Google Sheets

Google Sheets can be published as a public CSV feed that CsvExplorer reads directly. No API key or OAuth is required — just publish the sheet and paste the URL.

1 — Publish the sheet as CSV

1

Open the Publish to web dialog

Open your Google Sheet, then go to:

File → Share → Publish to web

2

Select CSV as the output format

In the dialog that opens:

  1. Select the specific sheet (tab) you want to export, or Entire Document.
  2. Change the format from Web page to Comma-separated values (.csv).
  3. Click Publish and confirm when prompted.
Note: Publishing makes the data publicly readable on the internet. Only publish sheets that do not contain sensitive or personal information.

2 — Copy the public CSV URL

3

Grab the link from the dialog

After publishing, Google Sheets displays a link. It looks like this (the output=csv parameter is the key part):

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/SPREADSHEET_ID/pub?gid=SHEET_GID&single=true&output=csv

Copy this entire URL — you will paste it into CsvExplorer in the next step.

Tip: You can also build the URL manually. Replace SPREADSHEET_ID with the ID from your sheet's address bar and set output=csv.

3 — Use it in a dashboard

4

Load the data in CsvExplorer

Open CsvExplorer and navigate to the Explorer.

  1. In the Source panel on the left, click Add source (or the data connector card if no source has been added yet).
  2. Select CSV file as the source type, then switch to the URL tab.
  3. Paste the Google Sheets CSV URL you copied in step 3 and click Fetch URL.
  4. CsvExplorer will fetch and parse your sheet. Column names and types are detected automatically.
5

Build and save a dashboard

  1. Use the Charts panel to add visualisations.
  2. Save your work with the Save dashboard button. You can make the dashboard public so anyone with the link can view it.
Tip: Google Sheets republishes automatically whenever the underlying spreadsheet is edited (with a short delay). Your CsvExplorer dashboard will always reflect the latest data — no manual re-upload needed.
Note: If the data does not load, double-check that the sheet is published (step 2) and that the URL ends with output=csv. Sheets that are only "shared" (not published) will not work.
